Über mich

Die Arbeiten sind in den letzten Jahren mit der Vorstellung entstanden, den Computer auch für die Malerei zu nutzen. Die frei zur Verfügung stehenden Malprogramme erschienen mir ausreichend zu sein, um die Leinwand durch einen Monitor und den Pinsel durch eine Maus zu ersetzen. Ursprünglich ist der Wechsel hin zum Computereinsatz aus der Not entstanden, da keine ausreichend große Werkstatt für die Arbeit vorhanden war. Mittlerweile schätze ich den Wechsel, er bietet auch eine Menge Vorteile. Klein- und großformatige Bilder werden alle über eine kleinflächige Zeichenplatte realisiert und damit ist es möglich, aus dem Handgelenk heraus große Linien zu ziehen oder Flächen mit einem kräftigen Strich zu füllen. Reizvoll ist auch, jeden Malprozess abspeichern zu können, um ihn zu dokumentieren und als Ausgangspunkt einer neuen Bildvariante einzusetzen.

Die facettenreiche Bilderauswahl steht für die spielerische Auseinandersetzung mit Farben und Formen und für die Vielschichtigkeit von Strukturen und deren zeitlichen Verläufen. Eines der Bilderthemen beschäftigt sich mit der assoziativen Wahrnehmung von Gruppenprozesse, Körperhaltungen und die Positionierung von Personen und Gegenstände im Raum.

Gleichzeitig zur Malerei begann ich wieder mit der elektronischen Musik, mit der ich erste Erfahrungen in den 70er-Jahren gemacht hatte. Jetzt allerdings auf der Basis von Softwareanwendungen. Was ich als enorme Erleichterung empfinde, sowohl vom materiellen Aufwand als auch vom Platzbedarf. Die Musik wird in ähnlicher Weise spontan umgesetzt wie die Malerei und beide Ausdrucksformen ergänzen sich und stehen dennoch täglich in einem Konkurrenzverhältnis.

Seit mehr als zwanzig Jahren arbeite ich jetzt künstlerisch mit dem Computer und die Auseinandersetzung mit beiden Ausdrucksformen ist täglich eine neue Entdeckungsreise mit offenem Ende.

The works were created in recent years with the idea of using the computer for painting as well. The freely available painting programs seemed to me to be sufficient to replace the canvas with a monitor and the brush with a mouse. Originally, the change to the use of computers arose out of necessity, since there was no sufficiently large workshop for the work. Meanwhile I appreciate the change, it also offers a lot of advantages. Small and large format paintings are all done using a small-area drawing board, making it possible to draw large lines or fill areas with a bold stroke from the flick of the wrist. It is also appealing to be able to save each painting process in order to document it and use it as the starting point for a new image variant.

The multifaceted selection of pictures stands for the playful examination of colors and forms and for the complexity of structures and their temporal progressions. One of my painting themes deals with the associative perception of group processes, postures and the positioning of people and objects in space.

At the same time as painting, I began again with electronic music, with which I had made my first experiences in the 70s. Now, however, on the basis of software applications. What I find as an enormous relief, both from the material expenditure and from the space requirement. Music is implemented sponaneously in a similar way as painting and both forms of expression complement each other and yet are in a daily competitive relationship.

I have now been working artistically with the computer for more than twenty years and the confrontation with both forms of expression is daily a new journey of discovery with an open end.
